Best Pro Volleyball Federation Teams: Preseason Ranking 2023

Pro Volleyball Federation Team Rankings

Who is the best Pro Volleyball Federation team? After rounding out an excellent year for college volleyball in the fall of 2023, we enter 2024 looking forward to the largest professional volleyball league the United States has ever seen. The Pro Volleyball Federation is a new attempt at perfecting volleyball in the U.S., and it looks to be more promising than it ever has been before.

The Pro Volleyball Federation has created seven teams for the 2024 season beginning in January, and it has confirmed several more teams beginning in 2025. As we enter this new era of professional volleyball, we thought it would be exciting to rank our first impression of each of the Pro Volleyball Federation teams, based on players and fan support. So, without further ado, here is our ranking of the teams in the Pro Volleyball Federation for the 2024 season.

Pro Volleyball Federation Rankings

1. Omaha Supernovas

Omaha Supernovas

I believe that the Omaha Supernovas without a doubt have the best-looking team heading into the 2024 season. They have created a roster full of top names from previous college volleyball seasons, including Sydney Hilley, Yossiana Pressley, and Brooke Nuneviller.

In addition, it is also widely known in the world of volleyball that Nebraska is the supreme volleyball state, as the University of Nebraska regularly ranks among the top teams in the country and is constantly breaking volleyball attendance records. The Omaha Supernovas have the capability of starting strong, not only due to their powerful roster but also the undeniable support of their home state of Nebraska and its history in the sport of volleyball.

2. Columbus Fury

Columbus Fury

Our second pick for the Pro Volleyball Federation ranking is the Columbus Fury due primarily to their number 1 overall draft pick, Asjia O’neal, who hails from the University of Texas. In addition to this powerful middle blocker, the Columbus Fury has rounded up a few other top players from their college days, including Gabby Blossom and Kendall Kipp. While Ohio is not usually regarded as a huge sports state, it does seem to be in the center of the volleyball world, meaning it could have a strong fanbase from all over the country.

3. Atlanta Vibe

Atlanta Vibe

The Atlanta Vibe will for sure be a force to be reconned with due to their addition of Morgan Hentz to their defending roster. Morgan Hentz, who won a national championship playing for Stanford University, is one of the best liberos to ever play the game, and she will make scoring points against the Atlanta Vibe extremely difficult. Another star pick for the Atlanta Vibe is Chiamaka Nwokolo, who comes from the University of Pittsburg and their very successful college season.

Atlanta is also quite a large location for the sport of volleyball. There are not too many successful college teams that come out of the state of Georgia, but it is huge in high school club volleyball, meaning their fan base could be made of junior volleyball players.

4. Grand Rapids Rise

Grand Rapids Rise

The Grand Rapids Rise will be a powerful team on the court due to their various players. They have obtained some notable players, including Claire Chaussee and Kayla Caffey, who will help contribute to the success of the team in the front row. The location of the team is a bit unusual for a volleyball program, but cities in Michigan are known to have lots of fan support, so they will mostly likely be set up to have quite the fan base.

5. Orlando Valkyries

Orlando Valkyries

While the Orlando Valkyries don’t have the most notable names from college volleyball, they have tons of familiar faces from professional volleyball overseas. Most of these professional players even have up to 6 years of professional experience, meaning they will be properly prepared for the Pro Volleyball Federation and its difference from college volleyball. This team is also from the amazing area of Orlando, Florida, which is known for having very successful junior club teams. These younger girls may create quite the fan base for the Orlando Valkyries, meaning they have a higher likelihood of performing well at home.

6. San Diego Mojo

San Diego Mojo

The San Diego Mojo has some notable names from college volleyball, including Jhenna Gabriel, a strong setter for the University of Texas, and Grace Loberg from the University of Wisconsin. These standout players are joined by several others with years of professional experience overseas, setting them up to be successful in the Pro Volleyball Federation. They are also based in the state of California, which is another large location for junior club volleyball. The entire state of California is also known for showing great support for its professional sports teams, which may be great for the San Diego Mojo.

7. Vegas Thrill

Vegas Thrill

Last but certainly not least is the Vegas Thrill. One of the most powerful weapons for this Vegas team will be their coaching staff. Head coach Fran Flory has an extensive coaching history, having coached at notable college teams such as the University of Texas and LSU. These coaches will be allowed to guide various professional players from overseas who have extensive knowledge of what a pro volleyball league looks like. This combination will make the Vegas Thrill a threat to the Pro Volleyball Federation.

Time Will Tell

While we can make educated guesses about the outcome of these Pro Volleyball Federation teams, there is no way to know which teams will succeed, and which teams will struggle. At the end of the day, it is clear that all teams have incredible players on their rosters, joined by a very talented and experienced coaching staff. I think that all volleyball fans can agree that it will be a great moment in history if this professional volleyball league in the United States were to be successful, and I think we are all hoping that it will be.

The Pro Volleyball Federation kicks off the season in January 2024, so only time will tell how each of these teams handle their first game. Everyone at Volleyballistic is looking forward to this new attempt at pro volleyball in the U.S., so we’ll do our best to keep everyone updated on all things Pro Volleyball Federation!
