High Performance Volleyball club is a team that is expanding so rapidly that most teams don’t know how to stop it. High Performance has always had a talented group of behind it, but it recent years, it is reaching levels of talent that have not been seen in the St. Louis area. I spent my senior year of high school playing for High Performance, so I was lucky enough to see this growth first hand.
The most obvious change that High Performance has made to their program is the addition of two new regions, both the Illinois and South regions of the St. Louis area. These new teams have not only expanded the region in which High Performance is attracting players, but it is also increasing the skill and ability of the highest level athletes.
In addition to expand the region, High Performance is also expand their locations. In recent years, High Performance has added two new volleyball training facilities that rank in the top locations in the nation. These new facilities have dozens of courts with specialized flooring to benefit athletes health and performance. 2. Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club (RTVBC)

When it comes to the best volleyball clubs in St. Louis, Rockwood Thunder immediately comes to mind. Growing up in the St. Louis area, I know quite a bit about Rockwood Volleyball Club. Not only did I play for Rockwood for two years of my volleyball career, I also played Rockwood teams at regional tournaments every single year, and I always dreaded seeing them in the finals. Rockwood Thunder is without a doubt the best club in the St. Louis area based on performance alone.
Rockwood’s top team, Rockwood Elite, consistently places in the top teams in the country at national tournaments and qualifiers, and they are known for winning most, if not all regional tournaments in Missouri. The club itself has ranked in the top 20 clubs in the country for many years now, with the club ranking as high as #8 in the nation over the last few years.
Rockwood Thunder is also known for getting lots of bids in a single season. In 2022, Rockwood Thunder’s teams earned a total of 21 season bids, the most ever earned by a volleyball club in the Gateway region. 3. Blue Steel Volleyball Club

For people from the St. Louis area, this selection may come as quite a shock. Blue Steel Volleyball Club is fairly new in the region, and it is also a club that is based on the Illinois side of the Mississippi river.
Like most other clubs, Blue Steel had to work its way up from the bottom, but in the past few years the club has improved substantially and is now making a name for itself in the Gateway region. Because Blue Steel is one of the only clubs on the Illinois Side, it attracts all kinds of talent from athletes who live in Illinois. Not only does it get Illinois players, it also has a full coaching staff of dedicated coaches who oftentimes coach at local high schools.
This variety of coaching and talent has made Blue Steel a difficult opponent in the St. Louis area, and they can only improve from here. While some other clubs seem to be losing power to some of the bigger names in the Gateway region, Blue Steel has only gotten stronger. Although they’re not technically in Missouri, Blue Steel is for sure one of the best volleyball clubs in St. Louis.
4. STL Crossfire

In recent years, STL Crossfire has become more and more impressive, and we cannot deny their position on this list. The club has had an incredible start to their 2023-2024 season, and they sent several teams to the USAV national tournament the last few seasons. Looking at the past ten years of volleyball for STL Crossfire, it is clear that they are on an upward trend, and they are now at a point in their club history where they are among the top-ranking clubs in the region.
Crossfire is a newer club in the St. Louis area, so it is no surprise that they have improved significantly since the club started. They have a promising group of girls for the 2024 season, and there is no telling how much more they are capable of improving as time goes on. They have certainly impressed the members of our team, as well as the entire St. Louis area. I believe they have one of the quickest-growing clubs in the region, so if you’re looking to be part of something great, STL Crossfire is without a doubt a great place to start!
5. Team Momentum

Team Momentum has been in the St. Louis area for what seems like forever. They have always kind of flown under the radar, at least for the 10 years that I played club volleyball. Team Momentum never was #1 in the region, but they were always very talented, and today their devotion to maintaining their standards has proven that they are a forced to be reckoned with.
As one of the best volleyball clubs in St. Louis, their name is now known among all players in the region.
Today, their teams consistently rank within the top 10 in the Gateway region, and put up a good fight in national tournaments as well. Their coaching staff is very persistent, and their longevity has made it so that the entire coaching staff is experienced enough to train and entire group of athletes. Team Momentum is one of the clubs in the region that has shown that they can progressively improve themselves despite the competition.
